Is The most important Aspect of Starting a Brand That stands the test of time. The Philosophy will be the solid platform on which you build your success. Before you start designing, planning, or drawing an image of your product. Also, before creating your website, engaging in any type of sales, identifying the name of your brand, creating your "collection/ line" or anything else. You need to get your Philosophy done.

To Identify Your "CORE MESSAGE" You want to go ahead And answer these QUESTIONS Or You can start with a simple task (below the Questions ):


  • What Do you Do out there sitting? What's your talent? What's Something You can showcase?

  • Are You an artist?

  • Are You a photographer?

  • Are You Funny or motivational?

  • Can You make a Sweater or Dress from scratch?

  • What Do You know others Don't?

  • Can You organize events?

  • Are You in the music industry? Are You a Dj?

  • Who are You? And What Do You Do?


Here is the catch, A simple task You can Start with: a method called "20-20-20"(often used by graphic designers)

The core message of your Brand Is your "20-20-20" 20 Words 20 Questions 20 Answers

The "20-20-20" method is incredibly helpful. You identify your core message and conceptualize the philosophy of your brand.


To begin with, write down 20 words that represent your way/brand. You literally can choose any words ( DON'T WORRY ANYTHING IS FINE) big, popcorn, rap, Kanye West, fear of God, tree, Black supreme......and so on.


Note: If You put less than 20 words it is going to be too simple, and If You put more than 20 words, 30-35, or 50 then it's going to be too complicated. So you need to narrow the best words into 20. And If you don't have up to 20 words you need to make it a little bit longer, so you can really provide a clear view of what your conception is all about.

Then, ask yourself 20 easy questions. Make questions using "why" to each of those 20 words.

Ex:

Why did I pick Pharrell? Why did I pick black, why did I pick popcorn? Why Did I pick the Simpson or why did I pick supreme?

​Note: Whatever you are thinking of at the time you are going to ask the question "why" to that.


And finally, You're going to come up with 20 ANSWERS.

But HERE IS THE catch !!!

Note: You are not going to answer the questions this way: "Oh..I like the Simpson because I just like the Simpson" or " I like black because black Is great "


BE SURE TO RESEARCH ALL THESE ANSWERS. In fact, doing research is the GOLDEN KEY to succeed in improving the position of your brand.

This is called :


Research Development

Everybody does it. You wrote down 20 words, you asked 20 questions, and now you are going to look for the answers Instead of giving those simple unhelpful quick answers. (YOU ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE A WEEK)

The process should take You between 2 weeks to a month to draw a clear image of all this. Guess what happens when you do this "Research Development" :


  • You'll begin to have good ideas about your Brand collection or line.

  • It separates your brand Which You are about to design from other existing brands that you're influenced and inspired by. (Be ORIGINAL Don't COPY OTHERS )

  • Identify the specific category of people you want to target.

  • Develop the CORE message of your brand And prepare the core ingredients.

  • Now you will have a better idea of How your logo Is going to look like.

  • Now you would have a better idea about what your clothes (product) going to look like.

  • You would have a better idea with your palette And patterns of your product.


Hence, if you do that research, you would know mostly everything about your brand before you even start designing it.

Your voice needs to be heard, your Brand needs to speak up the message, throughout the designs, the logo, its name, social media, your website, On your Prints,...etc beneath the meaning And reasons Why You Started a Clothing Brand.
